I have unfortunately not been feeling well this week. On Monday, I went see my doctor. To my suprise, there was an exhibit of black and white photos in the hallway between rooms, called Travelscapes. The prints are for sale; art at the doctor’s- how cool is that!

While vacationing in Iceland, I visited a number of museums (all of which were free - bonus point for Reykjavik).

This is a photo at the Reykjavik Art Museum, a calm interactive space to rest and re-coop from the cold weather or play a game of chess and share your thoughts about the museum and exhibits by writing on fun tags to hang on trees. Endless resources and comfy couches made me feel so welcomed — I didn’t want to leave!

Tom: don't make up excuses for her! you gotta get the keys! how will you get to level 3-2?

Val: I cant get the keys without killing the mushroom head first! :)

Tom: Right, and he tells you where to find the secret door to the room with the wishing well of misfortune.

Val: But how am I ever going to beat the mushroom head. He is like level 10. And I have never gotten past the dragon that breaths fire on level 6b.

Tom: I'm lost... how can you have gotten to the mushroom head before the dragon that breaths fire on level 6b? didn't you need Zaru's wand from world 3 before you can move on to the castle before world 6?

Val: I used my cheese wheel 1 up life to go to the sparkle room. You have to use the cheese wheel.... if you use the flower nothing happens...when you get there there is like a wheel and you press X on your key pad- I got the 4 feathers so I got to go up 4 boards..from level 6 to level 10....

Tom: ...wtf!?! I wasted four hours trying to complete it with the wand! Well, whatever, at least I'll have the special ending once I conquer the wharf rat in the second-to-last level.

Checking out the John Singer Seargent exhibit area at the MFA in Boston. This space highlights Seargent’s mural paintings, drawing specific attention to examples PART OF the MFA. What a great way to get vistors to see and appreciate the museum’s ceilings, walls- it’s structure in a whole new way! Bonus: today is Open House at the museum with live music, tours, and more- for free!

Smithsonian Center for Education and Museum Studies will present Climate Change, a Smithsonian Education Online Conference.

Through live presentations and a moderated Q&A forum, Smithsonian scientists, curators, and educators will explore Smithsonian research and collections related to the evidence, impact, and response to climate change. They’ll look at the issues surrounding climate change from the perspectives of science, history, and art and demonstrate resources for use in the classroom.

Registration for the conference is free and open to everyone. The entire online conference will be archived for replay at any time. For the conference program and registration, go to SmithsonianEducation.org/Climate.

Support was provided by the Donnelley Foundation and the Smithsonian’s Office of the Chief Information Officer.

For the past week we’ve been doing quite a bit of hard labor at Bartow-Pell Mansion Museum. I think it’s great that historic places like Bartow-Pell offer opportunities to connect with the site in a unique and lasting way. Heritage Conservation Network was great to work with and is **full **of such opportunites around the world. At Bartow-Pell in the Bronx, we spent time galleting the steps and walkways part of the Museum’s formal garden. Pencil in a visit to Bartow-Pell to drool over our stonework skills.

A lesson in the great outdoors…finally got over to the Highline this past weekend. I love how this photo captures the old worn-in look of some of the buildings with the new lush greens! Definitely worth visiting…every weekend if possible!
